Jago Foundation

  • Jharkhand, India

JAGO covers 40 villages across Giridih and Koderma districts in Jharkhand. JAGO works with communities in order to ensure children have access to basic rights like education and health. Economic condition and poor quality of the services from educational institutions caused a high degree of drop outs.

Children are forced to work and are employed in hotels, agriculture, shops etc. Malnutrition is high and children have limited access to health facilities and aanganwadis.

  • 5411 Children enrolled in schools
  • 785 Children assured access to ICDS schemes
  • 26 Schools equipped with water facility

What changed

JAGO ’s intervention with communities, has seen visible impact with more children going to school and staying there, activation of healthcare centres along with health awareness programmes, more pregnant women and mothers receiving quality healthcare, children receiving nutritious mid day meals. The children collectives activated by JAGO play a key role in ensuring children have a platform to voice their opinions.
